Prenatal Yoga: As a woman lives, so shall she birth

There are few lifetime experiences as profound as childbirth. Over a nine-month period a woman undergoes enormous physical, emotional and spiritual changes that prepare her to create and welcome another human being into the world. Prenatal yoga can help a woman live in calmness, radiance, joy and good health, and this is the atmosphere in which her baby will enter the world.

The Khalsa Way integrates thousands of years of wisdom with the latest knowledge of birthing and pregnancy. The effect is an improved physical stature and stamina and a heightened mental capacity that can benefit all women, whether they are birthing at home, a birth center, or a hospital. In addition, the Khalsa Way places a strong emphasis on community. In class we celebrate together and we support each other. As a result, friendships are likely to develop that will last a lifetime. The Khalsa Way is not simply a technique, it is an invitation to experience a new and vastly improved way of life.

In each class you can expect:

- Stretches and exercises that are presented with variations appropriate for all stages of pregnancy. There will always be kegels and squats.

- 3 minute "keep up exercise". These are some of the best preparations for labor because they safely develop strength and take you beyond what you thought you could do.

- Time to connect directly with your baby, sometimes through singing and dancing.

- Meditation and breath work. This practice helps you to make better decisions, to respect yourself and others, and to feel calmer and more at ease.

- Deep Relaxation, so you can leave class feeling calm and refreshed.
